Silson jewelry is very hard to find. In part due to the short term the company was in business. The company was in business from approximately 1937 to 1950. Here we present a most unusual “hand” fur clip. The hand almost has a gripping nature to it that is somewhat eerie. Silson, Inc. was known for its modern, sculptural and imaginative designs in a variety of media.

In October 1940, Silson Inc. launched a jewelry promotion to highlight the designs of native Mexican silver. Under the supervision of William Spratling, Silson manufactured the line, representing his work in white metal. Before the launch, the Spratling jewelry designs, were sold only in Mexico in Mexican silver. The collection, comprised of 100 pieces, took inspiration from the Aztecs. The necklace designs, sold with earrings, emphasized a more delicate nature rather than a heavy one. Besides necklaces and earring sets, Silson reproduced a range of pins sets in figurals motifs, including birds, butterflies, and reptiles.
